England Crowned World Champions in Taipei – 560kg Gold

Massive congratulations to England Tug of War.

World Champions in Taipei. 

Competing in the men’s 560kg category, England delivered a dominant performance at the World Indoor Tug of War Championships – finishing top of their group before emphatically securing gold.

In the final, they faced the Basque Country and left no doubt about the result, winning both ends in just 29 and 24 seconds.

A Team Built on Graft

While representing England on the world stage, the team is largely made up of athletes from Sheen Tug of War Club in Staffordshire. A local side based just a few miles from Vulcan Sports.

It’s a group built on hard work, consistency, and dedication, balancing everyday jobs in farming and trades with elite-level training. That commitment showed throughout the competition, as they powered through international opposition from across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

Finishing top of their group and delivering such a commanding final performance is no small feat; it’s the result of years of effort behind the scenes.
